Developed by CEO Allen Phillips and backed by decades of hands-on experience, these purely mechanical tools are built to keep maintenance low and operation simple—even in the most remote, low-resource environments.
In addition to our patented innovations, we offer crossover subs for running casing, providing added flexibility to meet customer needs. With operations in Midland, Texas, Saber Torque offers CRT rentals and sales. While primarily serving the Permian Basin, we are open to serving customers both domestically and internationally.

Cable Tool Rig
Vernon Phillips and his sons finish building a top drive rig after roughly 5 years. They drill several water wells and then get into the oil business in 1979.
Allen Phillips builds the first Saber CRT and for the next decade plus, it’s a workhorse for his drilling company.
Saber Torque is established under the name APCT LLC. Drilling will continue to be the main priority until c. end of 2017.
Allen Phillips builds the first Saber CRT that bites below the collar.
APCT LLC starts doing business as Saber Torque. This marks one of many efforts to improve the company’s marketing—an area that was long underdeveloped.

Brandon Gilliam has been in the drilling industry for roughly 20 years. With extensive experience in both oil and gas and water well drilling, he is available for technical consultations tailored to each company’s unique requirements.
In addition to his advisory role, Brandon is involved in sales management and occasionally assists with field operations, ensuring customers receive the support they need.
